Water Media Without Glass : Sealing and Framing

DATE: tbd

In this workshop, water media artist Bryana Joy Beaird will teach participants how to mount watercolor paper to wooden panels and seal finished water media pieces so that watercolor and gouache artwork can be displayed in floater frames without glass. Many galleries now prefer this format for exhibiting watercolor and gouache artwork, so these are valuable skills for water media artists to add to their repertoire.

Each participant will prepare and take home a small painting surface (a wooden panel with cotton watercolor paper affixed to the surface). Participants will be taught how to use breyers, matte medium, sanding blocks, and craft knives to prepare their panels, and will also be introduced to floater frames and two different methods (varnish and cold wax medium) for sealing water media pieces.
