Cultivating Artists - reviving creativity 2024

For any visual artist who wants to spend a day reviving their creativity for 2024. Each day will include elements of artist care and collaboration, have a unique focus, and be appropriate for beginners, emerging and growing artists.  Sign up for one or both.   Fee:  $37 per session (includes lunch)


Activities of our artist care days will include activities like art therapy, artwork reconstruction followed by peer response, goal planning, an artist panel on gallery life, and more. Local artists will be sharing their tips and experiences with you.


Participating artists should plan to...

—attend the full day 10-4pm at gallery840 or adjoining room (lunch included)

—bring a rejected, frustrating, or incomplete art piece to reconstruct

—bring your favorite dry medium art supplies to use during the day

—come with the heart of a mentor and collaborator

--enjoy time in community with other artists

This day of care and collaboration will include activities to encourage creativity, refine our goals and artist statements, learn more about social media and web design, explore color mixing,  reflect on our artwork, learn from other artists, and relax with intuitive painting.   Our hope is that you will enjoy this time of community with other artists, learn a few new things, and leave renewed with creativity for the year.

Cultivating Artists of Faith

This day of care and collaboration will encourage the artist in their art making while also delving into the connection between art & faith.  *"Artist of Faith” refers to those who follow Jesus with their life while engaging in art. We hope to spend the day at Jesus’ feet together as artists and feel His care as we cultivate conversations as artists of faith.

MORE ABOUT OUR FEB/MAR ART SESSION LEADERS

Wendy Stoudt has her BS in Art Education from Temple University, and has spent decades teaching and painting. She opened gallery840 5 years ago in downtown Allentown and loves to mentor young and beginning artists.  Wendy is an Impressionistic Landscape studio and plein air painter, and works in oils.  www.gallery840.net  @wjstoudt_art 

Kristin Kjorlaug is a partner at gallery840 and Norwegian Rosemaler. She studies the discipline of folk art and works in watercolor and acrylic. She loves to gather people around art, and living in the city of Allentown is a passion. KristinKjorlaug.com @kristinkjorlaug


Moriah Mylod- Daggett, MAAT, ATR is an art therapist and visual artist working in mixed media and a multitude of interdisciplinary arts. She can bring a moment to calm in just a few words. Jeremy Miller is the Founder and CEO of Poiema Visual Arts,and a great encourager and advocate of artists. He is currently working on a plan of discipleship, education and community for visual artists in Pennsylvania.  www.poiemavisualarts.org  @poiemavisualarts


Laura Brady graduated from Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design.  Her journey from graphic marketing and illustration to nature inspired painting has led to the opening of her own working studio & gallery in Allentown. As a Nature Acrylic Fine Artist, Laura's focus is on floral works.  www.laurabradygallery.com  @laurabradygallery


Brenda Gadow is a graduate of Kutztown Universities Fine Art Program and has spent her years since painting and showing around the Lehigh Valley. She is an Expressionist Landscape artist working in the mediums of acrylic and oil. www.brendagadow.com  @bkgadow

Kat Collins is an award-winning intuitive abstract artist.  Her preferred medium is mixed media as it affords her the desired methods for spontaneity and supports her layering, textured approach. Her abstract paintings are filled with rich colors, luscious textures, and spontaneous marks mostly from her memory and imagination.

Amanda D'Agostino is an award winning self-taught oil painter who often selects limited palettes of unusual color combinations to achieve the emotional impact she wants the viewer to feel.   Her work has juried into several regional and national shows since she started competing in 2021.  Her expressive and colorful paintings are representational and slightly impressionistic.

Corianne Thompson MAT, graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art and currently teaches at Penn State Scranton in the arts department.  She creates wheel-thrown and hand built porcelain vessels using forms inspired by the sea.
